Alameda Newborn Session

Confession, this is a pretty old session that I never blogged, because I was too overwhelmed with kids and work. This is actually the very first session I had back from maternity leave with Henry (baby #2), and he was about 4 weeks old. Since this was an Alameda newborn session, and this family lived 5 minutes from my house, it was doable, and was actually a much needed break. I remember how nice it was to be out, feeling human and creative again. I also remember how hard Henry was as a baby, and how he was screaming when I left (as he had been for most of the day), and how I actually breathed a sigh of relief as I left because it was the first time Iā€™d been away at all since he was born. I feel terrible even writing that, but when you have a colicky baby and another child, life is hard!

What a joy it was to get out and photograph this family, who was just slightly further along in the newborn phase than we were. I love to see families in their homes, just hanging out and enjoying their new little babies. Their little one was so peaceful, quiet and mellow that it was a welcome change from my own newborn experience!
